Designer of the future

In Taito Craft and Design School South Finland one learns the different stages of design and craftmanship processes from planning and designing to production.

Learning is based on both the pupils’ personal experience and expression and acquiring the knowledge of the production methods. On the basic courses different materials and techniques of both the traditional methods like knitting, weaving and felting and the more experimental ways to work with wood, concrete and ceramic become familiar. In the curriculum of the Nikkari Groups (Little Carpenters) the focus is on hard materials and craft design.

The education strengthens pupils’ aesthetic thinking and stimulates creative problem solving. The school provides courses not only for children and young people but also for adults.
